Mayor Bobby Jenkins

Mayor Jenkins has spent most of his life in Randolph County (Cuthbert). He graduated from Henderson High School in Cuthbert (which is no longer around) and later attended Albany State University. Jenkins taught high school math in Tift County for eight years before becoming an assistant principal for four years and a principal for eight years. A lifelong educator, Jenkins returned to Randolph County and served as Superintendent of Schools for 16 years. Rather than retiring and moving away, Jenkins ran for mayor in 2021, and this is his first year in office.

Southwest Georgia Regional Medical Center, which opened in Cuthbert in 1947, closed in October 2020, marking the end of an era. Regarding the hospital closure in 2020, Mayor Jenkins remarked, "The day the hospital closed in Cuthbert was like a funeral for us...the loss has been devastating. We need 24-hour emergency room access in Cuthbert."
