In the 2024 Georgia legislative session, our state's lawmakers came closer than they've ever been to closing Georgia's coverage gap by expanding Medicaid. Rather than approving an expansion of health insurance to low-income adults, state leaders created the Comprehensive Health Coverage Commission (CHCC). The Commission has begun meeting and will advise state leaders about how to improve health care access and quality for low-income and uninsured Georgians.
Regardless of what the Commission researches, studies, and advises, the data is clear that closing Georgia's coverage gap by expanding Medicaid is the most important action Georgia leaders can take for low-income and uninsured Georgians.
Join the Cover Georgia coalition and tell state leaders to close the coverage gap!
An estimated 240,000 Georgians are currently trapped in the coverage gap due to the state's inaction on Medicaid expansion. Our state's coverage gap leaves far too many hardworking Georgians without access to affordable, quality health care. This gap hurts us, and our friends, neighbors, and loved ones who remain uninsured. It also hurts our economy, the health care system, and the entire state. Georgia can't wait any longer for Medicaid expansion!
