Be the solution: Become a Cover Georgia Coverage Captain and bridge the health insurance coverage gap in Georgia.
Thousands of Georgians are stuck in the coverage gap
Imagine not being able to go to the doctor when you’re sick, skipping prescriptions because they’re too expensive, or ignoring a health problem because you simply can’t afford care. That’s the reality for too many Georgians caught in our state’s health coverage gap — people who make too much to qualify for traditional Medicaid but not enough to afford private insurance.
Cover Georgia is a coalition working to change that. Convened by Georgians for a Healthy Future, our mission is to expand access to health care by closing Georgia’s coverage gap through Medicaid expansion.
But we can’t do it alone.
Help your neighbors as a Coverage Captain
We’re hiring Coverage Captains — local, trusted community members who are ready to step up and help bring health care access to their counties. As a Coverage Captain, you’ll serve as the go-to person in your area, helping raise awareness about Medicaid expansion and the impact it could have on families and communities.
This is a part-time, paid position that’s flexible and impactful. You’ll attend virtual meetings, plan local events, connect with community organizations, and help educate residents and leaders about how closing the coverage gap would improve lives.
We’re actively seeking Coverage Captains in the following areas:
- Dalton
- Tifton
- Houston County
- Whitfield County
What you’ll do as a Coverage Captain:
- Lead with heart: Represent your county in the statewide coalition and advise on local outreach strategies.
- Speak up: Share the story of your community, organize 1-2 events, and help identify others willing to speak out.
- Build connections: Bring together local clinics, businesses, churches, and organizations to support the cause.
- Grow your skills: Receive training and ongoing support from Cover Georgia to lead confidently and effectively.
Time commitment is approximately 15 hours per month. A monthly stipend is provided.
What you’ll get:
- Paid monthly stipend
- All training and materials provided
- Access to a network of passionate advocates
- Opportunity to shape policy conversations at the local and state level
- The chance to make a real change in your own backyard
